Herbs known to prevent urinary tract disorders have been used for thousands of years- Many of these Herbs, like Rosehips and Bearberry (Uva Ursi) having been recorded as being used by the ancient Chinese Egyptian, Roman, Greek and Indian civilisations.

Kidney weakness shows in loss of condition and appetite, loss of interest and a certain dullness, possible intermittent vomiting, and/or thirstiness. What is really involved is the interdependent health of the adrenal glands and the kidneys.

Clinical signs of chronic renal failure are not usually apparent until three quarters of the total number of nephrons have been destroyed, so the process may continue over many years and therefore damage may be quite advanced when all becomes known.

Animal Botanical ™ Kidney formulation contains some of the most reliable and traditionally used urinary tract herbs. In our clinic many clients have reported improvement of blood urea and creatinine in many cases of Kidney damage in both Canine and Feline's.

The key ingredients in Animal Botanical™  Canine Kidney formula  is Rosehips , Dandelion, Garlic, Echinacea , Astragalus , Alfalfa, Buchu, Uva Ursi and Yarrow.

The Science

Astragalus membranaceas: (Astralagus)

The biological effects of Astragalus have been investigated in several animal models of kidney disease. The results (published in Kidney International) from these studies suggest that Astragalus treatment reduces proteinuria and attenuates kidney injury. These effects are associated with inactivation of free radicals, inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis, and reduction of tumour necrosis factor-α production (Zhong:Deng:Chen:Chaung:Kidney Int.2013;84(6):1108-1118.

Rosa canina (Rosehips)

A study on Rosa canina fruit extracts on renal disturbances found Rosa canina had protective effects against kidney function disturbances, oxidative stress and histological damages. (Ashtiyani:Najafi:Jalalvandi:Hosseinei Journal of Kidney Disease Vol.7 no4 July 2013)

Animal Botanical’s Master Herbalist has combined these significant herbs with other alterative herbs such as Garlic and Echinacea as a complete herbal formulation that may help to improve overall kidney and urinary tract health.
