Slippery Elm Bark Powder is one of nature's most trusted herbs for supporting digestive health. Rich in soothing mucilage, it forms a protective coating over irritated tissues, helping to calm inflammation and support the repair of the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract and other areas of the body.
It is particularly beneficial for dogs experiencing digestive upset, following surgery, or when transitioning to new foods. For sensitive dogs, slippery elm can help prepare and protect the gut during dietary changes.
Benefits of Slippery Elm Bark
Supports diarrhoea and digestive upset
Slippery elm is widely used to help manage acute diarrhoea, colitis and stomach irritation. Its soothing mucilage helps reduce inflammation while coating and protecting the digestive tract. For sudden digestive upsets, slippery elm can be used alongside a short fast (where appropriate), a bland diet and a quality probiotic to support recovery.
Helps relieve constipation
Although it may seem surprising, slippery elm can also assist with constipation. Its lubricating properties help soften stools and encourage comfortable, regular bowel movements, making it a versatile digestive support herb.
Soothes coughing and throat irritation
The same soothing action that benefits the digestive tract also helps calm irritated mucous membranes in the respiratory system. Slippery elm may provide relief from dry, painful coughs associated with conditions such as kennel cough or bronchitis by coating and soothing the throat.

Feeding Guide
Mix ¼ teaspoon of powder per 5kg of body weight through moist food.
Tip: For best results, mix the powder with a small amount of water to form a smooth slurry and gently syringe it into the side of your pet's mouth 20 minutes before a meal. This allows the slippery elm to coat and soothe the digestive tract before food is introduced.
