Yunnan Bauyao Capsules 16pk (Bleeding Support)

Use

For cutaneous (skin) hemangiomas or superficial bleeding tumours, some integrative veterinarians will use Yunnan Baiyao powder topically in addition to oral treatment. There are no standardized veterinary studies describing an exact paste recipe, so this is based on common integrative veterinary practice rather than a proven protocol. 

How to make a topical paste

1. Wash your hands.
2. Open 1 capsule of Yunnan Baiyao.
3. Empty the powder into a sterile container.
4. Add just enough sterile saline (preferred) or cooled boiled water to form a thick paste—usually 2–5 drops is sufficient.
• Aim for a toothpaste-like consistency that will stay on the lesion.
5. Gently clean the lesion with sterile saline if needed.
6. Apply a thin layer of the paste over the bleeding surface.
7. If practical, cover with a non-stick dressing and a light bandage, or allow it to dry if bandaging isn't possible.
8. Reapply once or twice daily, or after the area has been cleaned or if the paste comes off.

Alternative method

For an actively bleeding surface, many veterinarians simply open the capsule and sprinkle the dry powder directly onto the lesion before applying gentle pressure for several minutes. This is the most commonly described topical use.

Important cautions

• This is not a treatment for the tumour itself. Its purpose is to help reduce surface bleeding and support clot formation.
• Do not use on deep puncture wounds, infected wounds with pus, or inside body cavities unless specifically directed by your veterinarian.
• If bleeding is heavy, persistent, or your dog becomes weak, pale, collapses, or has difficulty breathing, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
• Prevent your dog from licking the paste until it has dried or is covered by a dressing.
